2026 M Chapter Elections – Candidacy Statements

Jeff Cowan – President

I’m excited to run for President of the M Chapter. I’ve been serving as the Vice President for the last year, and as the North Pacific Governor since 2022. So how did I get here? When I ended my term on the National board as Pacific Region VP, joining the M Chapter fulfilled a passion to put my skills and energy right where it mattered most—helping build and foster a community of M fans around the country. It may surprise some of you to learn that I’m not really a BMW fan—I’m a die-hard BMW M brand fan! And with few exceptions, most BMW cars I’ve owned and continue to own start with an M.

M Chapter is a unique challenge with members distributed across the country. In-person events are important, and we offer a surprising amount of these, but we can’t be everywhere all the time. Therefore, our online programing becomes significant as a method of fostering community.

Many M Chapter board members and I have strong relationships in the BMW-sphere. As president, I intend to leverage these relationships to bring you more unique M content and events. Our board is already discussing ways to make this happen in 2026. Like all chapters, we function because of our awesome volunteers and 2026 is a big goal year for us to recruit more Governors in more cities so we can meet more of you where you are. Along the way, we aim to grow the chapter and by extension, the club, because we know there are many more M fans out there waiting to find our tribe.

Rick Kempf – Treasurer

I have been a member of the CCA since 2012 and a member of the M Chapter for at least the last 2 years. I do not have an accounting background, but I previously served as the treasurer for the CCA’s National Capital Chapter from 2015 to 2019. The NCC conducts over 100 events annually, requiring the treasurer to conduct many financial transactions on a regular basis. My NCC treasurer experience will translate very well to the M Chapter which, due to being a non-geographic, nation-wide chapter, does not have programs to support and participates in many fewer local events.

I have served as the M Chapter Communications Director and Newsletter Editor for the past year, which has familiarized me with M Chapter operations and key personnel. Serving in 2 volunteer positions has given me a unique perspective into what it takes to make club chapters run and of the selfless, dedicated nature of the volunteer backbone that enables them to succeed and grow.

I seek your support as Treasurer so that I can continue to improve upon the chapter’s processes, maintain fiscal efficiencies and help us face the chapter’s new and emerging challenges.
